I'm a trucker who is away all week and this is a gem of a fridge freezer, it sits at the end of my bunk behind the passenger seat in a DAF XF and is not in the way for me, but then I'm 5' 11" so I guess if you're taller it maybe an issue, when I put the seat back and a slight re line it actually locks the fridge in place so it shouldn't be trundling across your bunk, the weight of it stocked should stop that anyway.
I had it in a Merc Actros for a little while and it was OK in the passenger well with the passenger seat squab locked in the raised position, but on the diagonal as it is quite large.
I love the Bluetooth function so you can set & check what temperature the two compartments are running at, it also holds the temperature very well.
I love the freezer compartment, when I down in Cornwall I buy proper pasties, freeze them and bring them back home and when in Scotland I do the same with fresh fish such as mackerel and salmon etc
It is one of the better investments I've made!
We're delighted that the Fridge really is a power efficient compressor fridge we can run from a 100W solar panel when we're away in our campervan. We've struggled with cheap electric coolers that zap our leisure battery & powerbank and don't really keep food cold enough. Not only does the T50 fridge keep to your chosen temperature, but you can keep food frozen down to -20°C in the freezer, as well as making the ultimate luxury camping item - ice cubes! Everything can be controlled by the touch sensitive screen on the fridge, but it's even easier to use the app on your phone! It even has a protection feature that cuts the power if your battery drops to a certain level, with 3 voltage options. But as it's only used an average 0.4 volts overnight, this hasn't cut in. In fact it's so economical on power that my powerbank has topped back up to full whilst running the fridge, even on an overcast winter day when the solar panels don't generate much power!
Was impressed with how quickly this drops to freezer temperatures. The ability to separate the storage into two and have one as a fridge and the other as freezer. Noise isn't too bad.
I replaced my old thermo electric cooler with a T36 a few days ago for use in my work van.
My first impression is that it has a much lower impact on my leisure battery that the old cooler - the battery voltage has been consitently higher when I check it first thing in the morning.
It also appears to hold its temperature to within a degree or 2. I'd modified the old cooler with a temperature controller, but in warmer weather is soon got too warm. It's currently springtime in North West England with daytime temperatures around 12-16 degrees C. The T36 maintains 2 degrees with no problem. I'm confident that it will handle summer temperatures too.
Checked out lots of fridges dometic/waeco , way more expensive, but after seeing the reviews , looking at fridge in the flesh and seeing it work , this could be the mutts nutts, does everything I could ask , only on mains power at the minute but will soon be in my camper with 200ah leisure battery’s + solar , it cooled down very quickly and all seems to be good , I’ll update when I get it in the van , that’s the real test!
